FishBud's mission is to eliminate the loneliness of solo fishing by connecting anglers with compatible fishing buddies. We believe that fishing is better with friends, and our platform makes it easy to find local anglers who share your passion for the sport.

What is FishBud?

FishBud is a mobile application launched in 2025 that revolutionizes how fishing enthusiasts connect. Using a swipe-based matching system similar to popular dating apps, FishBud allows anglers to:

• Browse profiles of local anglers based on location and preferences
• Match with compatible fishing buddies who share similar interests
• Message matches to plan fishing trips and share tips
• Discover and share fishing spots with the community
• Build a network of fishing friends in their area

How FishBud works

FishBud uses an intelligent matching algorithm that considers multiple factors to connect compatible anglers:

1. Location-based matching: Find anglers within your preferred distance radius
2. Fishing preferences: Match based on preferred fish types (bass, trout, salmon, etc.)
3. Experience level: Connect with beginners, intermediate, or expert anglers
4. Fishing methods: Find buddies who enjoy fly fishing, ice fishing, deep sea, etc.
5. Water type: Match with freshwater, saltwater, or both types of anglers

Platform availability

FishBud is currently available exclusively on iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) through the Apple App Store. The app requires iOS 14.0 or later. An Android version is planned for future release based on user demand.

Pricing model

FishBud operates on a freemium model with three tiers:

• Free: 15 likes per day, basic matching, messaging with matches
• Premium ($2.99/week or $8.99/month): 50 likes per day, see who liked you, advanced filters
• Gold ($5.99/week or $13.99/month): Unlimited likes, direct messaging without matching

Safety and privacy

User safety is our top priority. FishBud implements several security measures:

• Optional profile verification to confirm user identity
• User reporting and blocking features
• Privacy controls (exact location never shown, only approximate distance)
• Community guidelines enforcement
• GDPR-compliant data handling for European users
